In the first phase of development, the centre will take on 200 to 300 people, specialising in human resources business process outsourcing (HR BPO), finance and accounting outsourcing, service desk and application services.

LogicaCMG chose the Philippines as their new global services delivery location
because of its skilled labour market, the excellent English language skills and its affinity to Western business culture. The Philippines are a well-established destination for offshore services, particularly BPO, and have a wealth of accounting and SAP expertise.

LogicaCMG already has an established presence in the Philippines as part of its
Asian operation. The company first started in the Philippines in 1993 with the
implementation of an ATM switch network for the Bank of the Philippine Islands. The company currently focuses on selling ATM switch solutions, anti-money laundering systems and a broad range of vertical applications for the telecommunications sector, including billing systems, customer relationship management (CRM) solutions and infrastructure. Current customers include the Central Bank of the Philippines, the Bank of the Philippine Islands, Banco de Oro, Globe Telecom, Sun Cellular and Digitel.

Martin Blackburn, CEO, global service delivery at LogicaCMG, explains: "We have
chosen the Philippines as a global sourcing location to form part of our successful global services delivery organisation, which blends work between onshore, near-shore and offshore locations to provide our customers with the optimum service. Our experience of the people, the culture, the infrastructure and the support of the government all indicates that the Philippines are a perfect global sourcing location which will complement our existing operations in, amongst other places, India, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Wales and Morocco."

Peter Favila, British Trade and Industry Secretary of the Philippines, said: "Over the last few years the Philippines have emerged as one of the leading global players in the ever-growing offshoring industry. We are very pleased that a leading multi-national organisation such as LogicaCMG has decided to set up an offshore centre in the Philippines, joining other blue-chip European players such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Siemens and HSBC."
